Learning & Teaching Activities
Learning & Teaching Modes
This course is taught 100% on line in an intensive mode.
The course is taught over a six-week period, from 11 January 2021 to 19 Februray 2021.
The teaching of the course is split into pre-recorded lectures of 40 minutes each (up to 6 lectures a week), plus real-time, face-to-face tutorials via ZOOM. Tutorials wil be taught in the following timetable:
Week 1: two tutorials (Wednesday and Thursday)
Week 2: four tutorials (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday)
Week 3: four tutorials (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday)
Week 4: four tutorials (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday)
Week 5: four tutorials (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday)
Week 6: two tutorials (Monday and Tuesday)
All tutorials will be taught 6:10 PM to 7:00 PM
Students are responsible for completing the lectures and the grammar exercises cointained in them, in their own time and before the tutorials.
The tutorials are used primarily for oral and aural practice. Students are expected to actively participate in all tutorial sessions, without being asked by the tutor to do so.Workload

Assessment

Students must attend and participate actively in all tutorials. Students must achieve a minimun 80% attendance to tutorials in order to pass this course. Those who fail this attendance requirement will receive a mark of zero for attendance and participation. As soon as a student fall below the 80% attendance requirement, they will not be allowed to take any remainning online tests nor the final test.
Students must turn their video on for the duration of all tutorials. Failing to do so will result on the student marked as being absent.Assessment Detail
Participation: all students will be expected to actively participate in all activities and exercises organised in the tutorials.
On-line tests: to reinforce and expand the grammar and vocabulary learned in class, all students will be required to take four on-line tests. Dates for these tests will appear in the "Calendar of Activities" in the course outline.
Oral presentation: Working individually, students will do a 10-minute oral presentation on a cultural topic relevant to the country allocated by the course coordinator. The presentation will be in Spanish and organised around a PowerPoint presentation, also written in Spanish.
Mid-term test: the mid-semester test will cover all the grammar material and vocabulary learned in the first 3 weeks of the course. Students will also have to write a 250-word composition in Spanish on a topic to be announced in week 1.
Final test: The final test wil concentrate on the material taught in weeks 4 to 6, but might contain basic questions on the material covered in the first three weeks of the course. Students will also have to write a 250-word composition in Spanish on a topic to be announced in week 1.Submission
