Files are prepared in following format and available on the DLR team site. This file info_vxx.txt (xx being the version) contains the most actual version of the following description of available files *.jpg, color coded (for visual impression only; color bar is adjusted to range from min to max intensity) *.txt, data in ascii format - header info: x-pixel, y-pixel, x-pixel, x-spacing, x-offset first pixel, x-unit, y-spacing, y-offset first pixel, y-unit, int. unit (if not declared differently below) *.dat, tecplot format \LII images of averages + one representative instantaneous image 400 images averaged intensity ppm x-scale pixel y-scale pixel pixel resolution is 0.182 mm/pixel images are horizontally centred bottom equals h=0 mm \soot luminosity images of averages + one representative instantaneous image 50 to 400 images averaged (no significant influence on image smoothness) intensity a.u. relative values (equal intensity scale for all operating points) x-scale pixel y-scale pixel pixel resolution is 0.182 mm/pixel images are horizontally centred bottom equals h=0 mm \OH LIF Images of averages + one representative instantaneous image 200 images averaged if not indicated differently intensity a.u. (relative values within images, not fully comparable between operating points due to varying laser power) x-scale mm y-scale mm NOTE: soot deposits on laser entry and signal exit window occasionally affect images flames without oxidation air (FIRST-C2H4-3-1.2-30-0.3-0_OH_LIF_avr, FIRST-C2H4-5-1.2-50-0.3-0_OH_LIF_avr) are affected above 55 mm while first instantaneous images are unaffected richest flames at eq. ratio 1.4 (FIRST-C2H4-3-1.4-30-0.1-0.4_OH_LIF_avr, FIRST-C2H4-3-1.4-30-0.3-0.4_OH_LIF_avr) are affected in larger regions of images, therefore averages of fewer images are provided additionally latter are acquired immediately after start of respective flame before window clogging started; due to less averaging images appear less smooth, yet are more reliable again, instantaneous images (first of sequences) are unaffected images are NOT corrected for decreasing laser power on passage through absorbing flame, laser enters from left; thus, left half of images is more representative minor additional defects are present in several images (not specified above) due to window clogging without affecting the general information contained in images \OH luminosity Images of averages 50 to 400 images averaged Intensity a.u. relative values (equal intensity scale for all operating points) x-scale mm y-scale mm pixel resolution is 0.249 mm/pixel images are horizontally centred bottom equals h=0 mm NEW \PAH LIF Images of averages 200 images averaged if not indicated differently intensity a.u. only roughly relative values within images, not fully comparable between operating points due to varying laser power) x-scale mm y-scale mm so far, only the three operating points presented in Geigle et al. APB 2015 are contained in data set combination of excitation and detection wavelengths restricts PAH fluorescence to a mass range of about 100-200 amu due to large number of different species in this range, exhibiting different optical properties and concentrations, distributions only provide a coarse impression see respective publication for more detail NEW \PIV Images of averages + one representative instantaneous image sheet plane is x-y (radial/axial), resolution 2.4 mm, z is perpendicular at a resolution of 1 mm (corresponding to sheet thickness) origin of the coordinate system is the axis of the burner inlet Averages use at least 450 valid single velocity fields if not declared differently location (x/y) is indicated in [mm], 3 velocity components are listed in [m/s] invalid regions are masked (i.e. set to zero) PIV experiments were performed under non-reactive conditions at the pressure of the respective test cases including fuel injection. FIRST-C2H4-3-1.2-30-0.3-0.4_PIV_cold: 3 bar, phi=1.2, with oxidation air, non reactive FIRST-C2H4-3-1.2-30-0.3-0.4_PIV_cold: 3 bar, phi=1.2, no oxidation air, non reactive For the reactive cases, the 3 bar lean condition generated low soot levels allowing for full view and single pulse data analyses. FIRST-C2H4-3-0.9-30-0.3-0.4_PIV: 3 bar, phi=0.9, with oxidation air At 3 bar, phi=1.2 with oxidation air, flame luminosity was too bright to provide similar data quality. Instead we applied full frame "Sum of Correlation, SoC" analysis yielding a quasi-average flow field. Due to limited transmissivity when employing wide angle camera lenses combined with narrow band filters (532+/-1 nm) single pulse information is limited to circular fields of view in three viewing positions. FIRST-C2H4-3-1.2-30-0.3-0.4_PIV: 3 bar, phi=1.2, with oxidation air NEW for averages, the Field of View (FoV) das have been added now. It is complementary with the SoC, as far as more reliable, although not covering the full combustor NEW For the respective case without oxidation air no full frame image could be acquired nor the top location of the combustor. Average information is thus available for the two lower oberservation positions as SoC, together with a selected instantaneous distribution. FIRST-C2H4-3-1.2-30-0.3-0_PIV: 3 bar, phi=1.2, no oxidation air \CARS The spatial resolution is measured to be 1.6 mm in direction of the CARS beams (i.e. parallel to the burner exit plane) and 0.15 mm perpendicular. For each flame, one overview text-file summarizes the parameters of the temperature distribution for each measurement location, i.e. axial (z) and radial position (r), parameters of a fitted Gauss distribution T(mean) and sigma, most probable temperature T(mp) and the limits of the range covering 90% of all measured temperatures (T5 and T95). Note that the assumption of a Gauss distribution is NOT always justified! In addition, a subdirectory containing all histograms as ascii file exists for the different locations. The header shows the parameters listed above with the histogram (50 K intervals). For illustration purposes one pdf plot (SVCARS_FIRST-C2H4_histogram_overview.pdf) is provided as graphical overview in the main CARS folder. \photos note: no intensity compensation performed! exposure time 1/2000 s, different aperture values Only for visual impression. \movies note: no intensity compensation performed! Undefined exposure times. Only for visual impression. NEW \soot_OH_correlated For the reference case FIRST-C2H4-3-1.2-30-0.3-0.4 an instantaneous correlation of OH and soot distribution is added NEW In addition, a step file containing the combustor design as volume model is provided. \Acknowledgement Data have been generated within the European project Fuel Injector Research for Sustainable Transport (FIRST) FIRST-FP7-265848 \own publications K.P.
