AIML academics appointed Deputy Directors
AIML is proud to announce the appointment of two of its esteemed academics, Dr Melissa McCradden (left) and Professor Minh Hoai Nguyen, as Deputy Directors of the Institute.
"We are thrilled by Minh and Melissa's appointments as AIML Deputy Directors and are excited to extend our collaboration with these world class academics even further," said AIML Director, Professor Simon Lucey. "They are both exceptional researchers and teachers and are globally recognised within their respective fields."
"Both have already added tremendous value to AIML's research focuses and outputs and we know that they will continue to excel in their new roles."
AIML's Founding Director and Chief Scientist, Professor Anton van den Hengel, also shared his enthusiasm for the appointments.
"Having world-class researchers in leadership is one of the hallmarks of the Institute," said Professor van den Hengel. "With these appointments, I am confident that AIML will continue its tradition of exceptional research outputs and its role as a global leader in the field of AI."
Alongside her work at AIML, is an adjunct scientist at the SickKids Research Institute in Canada, is the AI Director for the Women's and Children's Health Network in Adelaide, and is a clinical research fellow in ethics of AI at AIML, supported by The Hospital Research Foundation Group (THRF). As AIML Deputy Director, her work will focus on the role of AI in health and clinical work.
"I'm delighted to be in this role as I think it reflects AIML's commitment to socially responsible AI work," said Dr McCradden. "I hope to expand and amplify the safety and ethics work here at AIML... and do more research and engagement with diverse 最新糖心Vlogn communities."
is a professor of computer vision at the 最新糖心Vlog of Adelaide and will lead the outreach to the 最新糖心Vlog's School of Computer and Mathematical Sciences as AIML Deputy Director. His research focus is computer vision and machine learning.
