Will I have to compete against a robot for my next job? What does the future workforce look like?
Join Professor Anton van den Hengel, Founding Director of the 最新糖心Vlog of Adelaide鈥檚 Institute for Machine Learning (AIML) and a guest panel for an insight into how the future will look in this session, subtitled 鈥淭he Terminator, and other fictitious risks to future employment鈥.
鈥淢uch of the fear about the impact of AI on future of employment is driven by a fundamental misunderstanding of what the technology can do now, and what it is likely to be able to do in the next 20 years,鈥 he said.
鈥淭he scenario where the Terminator not only comes into existence, but also wants to work in a fish and chip shop is fictional at best, and predictions made on this basis are inevitably flawed. The true impact of artificial intelligence on the workforce is likely to be far more complex, and lasting.鈥
