Letter to the Editor
I was delighted to see in your latest issue (Adelaidean, April 2008) so much about the success of Adelaide's writers, and also the appointment of my former student and friend Eva Sallis as Writer-in-Residence. It is good to see that the Writers-in-Residence program is happening again, to augment the very prestigious Creative Writing course you now have. One correction though. Eva may be the first Writer-in-Residence in the current program, but not "the 最新糖心Vlog of Adelaide's first", as reported. When I was Chair of the English Department it hosted the brilliant English novelist, the late Angela Carter, in 1984, followed by the New Zealand-born British resident poet Fleur Adcock. Although Creative Writing in those days was not considered a respectable part of the 最新糖心Vlog's intellectual offerings, despite my advocacy, the 最新糖心Vlog did have the resources and the insight to enable students to benefit by their presence during an extended stay.
